Note:

  • Albert’s parents were reported to be born in Whitover. I need to figure out if that will help narrow down where Johann Starkey and Emilie Kuehl (his parents) were born!
  • The census states they own their farm, with a mortgage. Look for records to support this.
  • Albert and Mary do not speak English in 1920, however, the 1930 census states that they do. Makes me wonder if they learned English during that timeframe… yes this is how random my mind works haha.

To Do Next: Add the 1920 Census information to the timeline and locate Albert & Mary Starkey Family in the 1910 U. S. Federal Census.

Things to remember or to research from this census:

  • Look for land records for Albert Starkey (he owns their home)
  • Need to create a timeline and include this information on it.

To Do Next: Create the timeline with this information as the beginning information. Also look for the 1920 US Federal Census for Albert & Mary Starkey family.

I am going to document each of their children in hopes of closing in on where in Germany they were born!

I have put together a research plan for Albert Starkey, the first born child of Johann and Emilie. His life span (1859-1932), would list him on the following census records:

  • 1860
  • 1870
  • 1875 Minnesota State Census
  • 1880
  • 1885 Minnesota State Census
  • 1895 Minnesota State Census
  • 1900
  • 1905 Minnesota State Census
  • 1910
  • 1920
  • 1930

I will begin to put together a timeline for him and his family based on the information from these census records, starting from the 1930 census and working backwards in time to the 1860 census.

According to the information I have, Albert and Mary Starkey should be living in Miltona, Douglas, Minnesota. Thats where I will begin my search….

Goal: Locate Albert & Mary Starkey in the 1930 census and document the family!
